The stalemate brings her record to 5-2-1, and ends her five-win MMA streak
Kenya’s professional Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighter Felista Mugo settled for a draw in her appearance at the Impact Championship 5 in Lusaka, Zambia.
Mugo, 25, was the only Kenyan fighter in Zambia’s first professional fight night staged at Scream Club, but saw her bout with DR Congo’s Sephora Kiala end in a “majority draw.”

The stalemate was Mugo’s first in her overall professional career, and came immediately after her biggest win in May, where she was crowned African flyweight champion.
Then, Mugo, who found a path to MMA through karate, toppled Ghana’s Janet Acquah with a rear neck choke in the first round, bringing home the Global Warrior Championship belt.
“We settled for a draw this time round,” Mugo wrote on her timeline, reacting to the draw with Kiala, who coincidentally handed the Kenyan her first defeat in the professional ranks, albeit on her debut.
“Learned a lot and got a great experience."
Mugo’s professional record now stands at 5-2-1, the draw ending her impressive run of five fights without defeat, which had pulled her to position 15 in the Middle East and Africa region.
In that run was her other big win last year, when she knocked out Aneesha Mayman to become the first Kenyan MMA fighter to win in the Extreme Fighting Championship (EFC).
Mugo, dubbed the Young Queen, will now cast her eyes to her next event, as she seeks to fly Kenya’s flag high in the MMA scene. She hopes to one day grace the global Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).
